This committee widely discusses EU policies concerning consumer
protection from product safety issues to those on B2C commercial
practices. Its discussion now focuses on the Commission's Green
Paper on Consumer Protection released in October 2001. As an outcome,
JBCE submit its position paper on Green Paper in January 2002.
The committee follows up the further development of this issue
towards an actual legislative proposal of framework directive on
consumer protection.
The committee also continually follows the development of product
safety issues including the Member states' implementation of general
product safety directive adopted last year.
