This committee discusses a wide range of issues regarding information society technologies and policies, including a regulatory framework for e-commerce, intellectual property taking into consideration the technological opportunity and development in the area of ICT. Its activity now mainly focuses on the issue of digital rights management (DRM) system and the Member states' implementation of the EU copyright directive. As an outcome of the discussion, JBCE submitted a position paper on DRM system to the EU Japan Business Dialogue Round Table on July 8. The committee continues to follow up the further development of this issue as well as discuss other important issues in the information society policy field, such as patent, data protection and e-Europe 2005. |
