This committee follows EU policies relating to standards, technical
regulations and conformity assessment. These issues have recently been
closely linked with environment policies as seen in the Commission's Green
Paper on Integrated Product Policy. Concrete examples are the draft
directive on environmental aspects of electrical and electronic equipment
(so-called draft EEE directive) and the draft directive on energy efficiency
requirement for end-use equipment, which would introduce technical
regulations requiring products to be environmentally friendly or energy
efficient. The committee follows the developments of these issues in
cooperation with JBCE Environment Committee.
