At the 22nd EU-Japan Business Roundtable (BRT) on 5 Nov., JBCE President Mr. Chris Jackson was a presenter in a session ‘EPA under the new normal of the COVID-19 pandemic’.
Mr. Jackson emphasised that EU-Japan cooperation should be pursued more than ever, based on the shared values and visions, common objectives, and a commitment to a multilateral, open rules-based system.
He reminded the importance of JBCE’s role to contribute to focus on regulatory cooperation relating to key topics and objectives such as the European Green Deal and the Digital Transformation so that everyone can benefit, people and business alike, to overcome the challenges of the COVID era.
He also confirmed that JBCE advocates an ambitious and transparent EU trade policy, which is committed to open and fair trade.
After presantations and discussions by respective Working Parties, the joint recommendations were handed over to Mr. Hiroshi Kajiyama, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the Internal Market.
