Trade Policy Committee
The Trade Policy Committee focuses on EU trade and economic security developments. It addresses EU legislation that directly affects supply chain design and management, including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the Forced Labour Regulation (FLR), and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). It also monitors EU economic security policies, particularly protection-oriented measures likely to influence market access, sourcing, and investment decisions, such as the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR).
Drawing on the practical business realities faced by Japanese companies operating in Europe, the Committee translates its members’ contributions into JBCE positions, placing strong emphasis on promoting the feasible and effective implementation of legislation. These positions are conveyed through targeted engagement with EU institutions, Japanese authorities and partner associations.
