JBCE’S POSITION ON THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL ON SUBSTANTIATING GREEN CLAIMS

On 20^th July 2023, JBCE submitted its feedback on the European Commission’s proposal for a Directive on substantiation and communication of explicit environmental claims (Green Claims Directive).

JBCE supports truthfulness and transparency in environmental information to protect consumers. JBCE also believes that the directive should focus on B2C commercial practices and should not include B2B product and service-related communications. The legislation should be practical for global companies, considering operational complexities. In addition, JBCE supports the prohibition of false or misleading environmental information and believes in the importance of efficient market surveillance for consumer protection.
