JBCE's Environment & Energy Committee submitted its views following the call for comments on the draft opinion of SEAC on Annex XV dossier proposing restrictions on MCCPs

11/08/2023

On 11th August 2023, JBCE submitted its views on the draft opinion of SEAC on Annex XV dossier proposing restrictions on MCCPs.

JBCE understands the proposed draft opinion of SEAC regarding the restrictions on MCCPs in line with the target of having “a zero-pollution ambition for a toxic-free environment”. However, JBCE is concerned that the proposal is broader than the current scope of MCCP as SVHC. Furthermore, the proposed two-year grace period is not sufficient for the industry. JBCE strongly recommends ECHA to set a sufficiently long transition period for replacing MCCPs with the alternative substances and to introduce a "repair as produced" principle to avoid socio-economic disruption all over the world.
