JBCE Participates in JEITA-EU-Japan Centre Event on the New Dimension of the EU-Japan Digital Partnership
On 15 October 2025, JBCE participated in the JEITA-EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation event ‘Towards a New Dimension of EU-Japan Digital Partnership’, organised on the sidelines of the CEATEC Conference.
Marco Canton, Chair of JBCE’s Digital Innovation Committee, spoke on behalf of the association, representing the industry alongside Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, Director General of DIGITALEUROPE, and Sebastiano Toffaletti, Secretary General of European DIGITAL SME Alliance. This event was also an opportunity to hear from Jean-Eric Paquet, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, Mitsuru Ikeda, Director in charge of EU-Japan Digital Partnership at Japan’s Digital Agency, Olivier Bringer, Head of Unit for International Affairs and Policy Outreach at DG CNECT, European Commission, and Yuko Shigyo, Director of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA).
- On Horizon Europe: JBCE strongly welcomed the EU-Japan plan to conclude Horizon Europe association talks by year-end, which will enable joint research and faster collaboration.
- On AI pilot projects: JBCE encouraged enhanced AI cooperation in public procurement and advanced manufacturing using GPAI & AI agents. We suggested to launch a partnership via a pilot project under the Digital Partnership MOC.
- On Mutual recognition: The EU and Japan should explore mutual recognition of cybersecurity standards, certification and a common approach to ICT supply chain security and resilience.
- On the Competitiveness Alliance: JBCE highlighted that it links key initiatives such as Horizon Europe, the Digital Partnership, and Mutual Recognition, and serves as an integrated driver to advance them.
JBCE would like to thank JEITA and the EU-Japan Centre for the invitation and for co-hosting this event.
