JBCE Statement on the Outcome of the 30th EU-Japan Summit

JBCE has published a statement on the outcome of the 30th EU-Japan Summit, which took place on 23 July 2025.

JBCE welcomes the results of the Summit, in particular

• The launch of the EU-Japan Competitiveness Alliance to jointly address issues of economic security and competitiveness, as well as the expansion of the EU-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue.
• The objective of deepening exchanges on better regulation and simplification in order to streamline rules and reduce administrative burdens.
• The commitment to continue cooperation under the Digital Partnership and the Green Alliance.

JBCE strongly encourages the EU and Japan to

• Intensify their efforts to swiftly conclude an agreement on Japan’s association to the Horizon Europe programme.
• Promote a more ambitious Digital Partnership by swiftly launching concrete joint initiatives and following up on their implementation.

We are honoured by the specific mention of JBCE in the Competitiveness Alliance as a key player in conveying the views of Japanese industry to both economic blocs.
